Lynne Finch-Charlesworth is the author of the blog Female and Armed and the Face Book page Women Firearms Instructors. She is a NRA Certified Instructor for Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home, and Refuse to be a Victim. She is also a certified NRA Range Safety Officer, as well as a SABRERed Civilian Safety Awareness Program (CSAP) Pepper Spray instructor. She has also earned the Winchester Marksmanship Distinguished Expert award for pistol and is currently working on the rifle program.
Lynne is an adjunct instructor with Innovative Defensive Solutions, LLC in Northern Virginia. She really enjoys teaching and firmly believes that no matter your skill level you can always learn something new from a good instructor. She devotes a lot of time to researching issues related to women and shooting and women’s concealed carry options. She also enjoys sharing tips to improve shooting skills or develop a new awareness.
Lynne believes that kids should learn safety rules early and that families shooting together helps to reinforce not only safety but the bond within the family. Because of that she co-founded, with Innovative Defensive Solutions, LLC President Evan Carson, National Take Your Daughter to the Range Day which held its inaugural event Jun 9, 2012 with 37 ranges across the country hosting events encouraging families, especially the daughters, to come out and shoot, or learn to shoot with the help of volunteer instructors.
Lynne started shooting about 18 years ago after she received a threat from a former boyfriend. She quickly discovered a love of the shooting sports, not just for personal defense, but marksmanship, and eventually decided to become an instructor and an author.
Watch for guest posts from Lynne in the near future!
