Seems state governments are looking back to the 70s for inspiration is their zeal for “gun control”. To me, Gun Control is “hitting what you aim at” (seen on a t-shirt…in my closet) but for some individuals, and governments, gun control means you don’t have them. In the name of safety, five states and the District of Columbia, are considering bills that would require law abiding gun owners to purchase between $250,000 and $1 million dollars in liability insurance to buy a gun, or in Pennsylvania it would be required to obtain a Concealed Carry Permit.
In at least one instance, the state is also looking to hold a gun owner responsible for damage caused by the STOLEN firearms, until the theft is reported. If something is missing from your collection and you don’t notice right away, this could be a very serious issue.
They haven’t found a way to take them away, so they are looking for a way to make ownership so onerous that people will think twice before buying or keeping firearms. Many of these elected officials have armed guards, protective services and special considerations from law enforcement. Options not available to law-abiding citizens, whom they would deny the right to defend themselves from those who would do not care about the law. Somehow, IMHO, this doesn’t seem fair.
