The Constitutional Paladin – In defense of the past, for the future

U.S. Flag

As I contemplate the challenges facing Americans today and as I listen daily to interpretations thereof, both on the streets and in the media, I am continually stunned to realize how the foundations of this Nation are in jeopardy of nearing complete destruction. How have we come so far and not retained the wisdom to “hasten and retrace our steps, and to regain the road which alone leads us to peace, liberty and safety”? -Thomas Jefferson The American spirit was conceived in defiance of the chains of oppression; born out of tyranny and anguish; a spirit of free, unyielding, faithful, Read More »

“Civil Disobedience” to meet Local Law Enforcement

Washington DC

July 4, 2013 Adam Kokesh, an Iraq war veteran and self-proclaimed activist, is organizing an armed march on Washington DC.  He is calling for supporters to carry loaded rifles “slung over their backs” as they cross the Potomac River into DC.  On a FaceBook page for the event, he candidly admits that there is a risk of arrest, and while he discourages resistance, he has acknowledged the risks, encouraging participants to submit to arrest peacefully. Mr Kokesh acknowledges this is not a permitted event, which gives authorities one more basis for arresting participants.  Frankly, living Read More »

Schools and Guns

School Building

It was in my last blog, which was a while ago – so I apology for not getting this out at little earlier, that I talked about how our schools are “dumbing down” our children. I shared information about colleges changing their thoughts on education.  However, just after my last blog, I ran across a college publication with an article titled, Right to Bear Arms: Students for Concealed Carry.  After reading the article I had two thoughts. First Thought:  This is just too Cool! Well, I thought to myself, this is really incredible and just plain cool!  I know “cool” is an old Read More »

When is a Finger Just a Finger?

finger_gun

Apparently not when it is being pointed in a “threatening” manner, implying a gun, by a six-year old.  Once again, Zero Tolerance triumphs over Common Sense.  A Maryland First Grader was suspended for pointing his finger and saying “Pow”.  He was also forced to pay a visit to a counselor.  Gee, what is the penalty if instead of “Pow” you say “Pull”?  Would you be forced to visit a zoo and watch animals releasing noisy noxious fumes into the air?  Just to be clear, we are talking about the index finger here. How many of us grew up outside from dawn to dusk, running Read More »

New York First in Gun Control

new york

New York is the first state to strengthen their gun laws in response to the violent shootings at Sandy Hook School in Connecticut and also shooting of first responding firefighters in Webster,NY. Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York State signed a more restrictive gun control which was passed by the state legislature in very quick fashion on Tuesday, January 15. Mayor Bloomberg, who was pleased with the law, states that it strengthens NY's already strict gun regulations and shows a concern about public safety over gun possession. Gun owner associations such as the NRA have said that the bill Read More »

Protecting Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

old vs new

An introductory essay on America at the precipice of devolution. The thoughts, opinions and analysis expressed herein are solely my own and from this essay I simply want to inspire thought and provoke motivation in every reader, to consider the outcome if the necessary course of action is again not taken in our present society. First of all I want to begin by saying what happened at the Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut was and is a tragedy, one that we will never forget. My condolences and prayers go out to the families and everyone affected by this heart breaking Read More »

The Dumbing Down of America

stupid sign

Changes for the New Year As the New Year approaches and arrives, it’s natural to reflect over the year and speculate toward the future.  People despise change but every minute change happens.  It is inevitable.   But, how we change is the real focus.  As I have alluded to in past blogs, I not only enjoy but demand that I live my life according to my choices as I’m willing to accept the responsibility of those choices.  And, I think that is where one of the problems lies with the Second Amendment.  We are teaching our children to allow themselves to be taken care of and in most Read More »

Tragedy in Connecticut and the Aftermath for Gun Owners and the 2nd Amendment

Washington Murder Rate and U.S.

I think we can all agree that the mass shooting at Sandyhook Elementary School was horrific; the innocent children lost, the heroic staff who died trying to protect them; the First Responders who will carry those images for the rest of their lives; the children who will never feel safe again and the parents who can’t kiss their little ones good-night…and many others who were affected in lasting ways.  We can also agree that the tool was used by a seriously disturbed man was a gun. What we can’t agree on is where the responsibility lies.  The tool was a gun, but it was the hands of a Read More »

UN sent to prevent voter suppression in U.S. Elections?

R vs. D

Yesterday, I came home from a day of teaching – tired as the semester is on the “down swing” and we have 5 weeks to go.  To my horror, yes to my horror – my husband asked if I had heard the news about “the UN “watching” the voting process in the United States?” Jessica Pieklo wrote in the Wall Street Journal that “In response to the concerted efforts by Republicans to suppress voter turn-out in the November election, civil rights groups have asked the world’s largest election monitoring organization to police the elections for fraud.”  First I was shocked that anyone Read More »

Even if you do not own a gun you need to know this. This needs to be spread to all gun owners and sportsman. We cannot rely on the media to inform us of these types of matters.
